Job Description
Essential Function:
Advocate for and work with Head Start families by assisting in the setting and meeting of academic and vocational goals. Assist with the implementation of the daily operations and activities.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
:Read, understand, and adhere to the Agencys Personnel Policies and Staff Procedures.
:Assist in the
Registration/Screening Process.
:Be responsible for ensuring all health and dental requirements are completed within the 45/90 day timeline.
:Responsible for contacting families on the TANF list after screening information has been sent. Continue to follow:up with families on the TANF list as needed.
:Ensure children are eligible for Head Start services by completion of the Registration Application, Eligibility Selection Criteria form and Program Eligibility Checklist. The Information will be entered in ChildPlus.
:Assist with the coordination of the beginning of the year parent activities and ensure parents have completed all necessary paper work for children to begin school.
:Assist the families to get required medical and dental services for children and maintain up to date immunization certificates.
:Assist the families in receiving necessary medical and dental treatment and maintain necessary documentation.
:Work with the families and teaching staff to complete Family Partnership Agreements. Follow:up to see if goals were met.
:Assist with arranging education classes for parents, when needed.
:Record pertinent family information and enter the data in ChildPlus.
:Complete necessary reports as instructed. Provide information for the PIR report as instructed.
:Maintain up:to:date information in ChildPlus.
:Maintain office files and order necessary forms and supplies as needed for daily operational activities.
:After a child has been absent for 3 consecutive days, work with the teacher to determine who will follow:up with the family.
:Assist in the notification and transportation of the Area Policy Council members and Health Advisory Committee members.
:Be knowledgeable of community agencies and resources, how to access them, and ensure up:to:date information is maintained.
:Fax information each month about community meetings, including date, time, and place, to the Parent Engagement Coordinator. Attend community meetings when possible, or when requested by the Parent Engagement Coordinator.
:Attend trainings and staff meetings, as scheduled.
:Be responsible for proper care of all office equipment and supplies.
:Assist classroom staff and parents in transition plans for Head Start children entering public school.
:Assist in tasks other than those listed which may necessitate rearrangement of daily activities.
Experience and Qualifications:
Must demonstrate a positive attitude, function as a team member, and show a commitment to the overall mission of the agency. Must have the ability and skills to work with families and community agencies. A degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Counseling or related field desirable. Two years experience in Head Start or a Social Services Agency required without a degree.

:Must be able to engage in full range of motion (bend, squat, kneel, stretch, and twist)
:Must have valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and the ability and willingness to travel the service area as needed.
